Senior Civil/Structural Design Engineer
with experience in designing water and wastewater infrastructure for Water Utilities and Contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the full project lifecycle from bid preparation, preliminary design and feasibility studies to detailed design and construction supervision.
* Oversee and deliver civil and structural engineering designs, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, including Eurocodes and Uisce Éireann and/or UK AMP8 Utilities' specifications.
* Mentor and manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative environment and overseeing professional development.
* Prepare and review all project documentation, including design drawings, engineering calculations, and Bills of Quantities.
* Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and ensuring clear communication throughout all project phases.
* Administer construction contracts, oversee procurement, and ensure compliance with design specifications and budgets.
* Conduct site inspections, produce related reports, and ensure compliance with company quality assurance procedures.
* Proactively identify potential project risks and implement effective risk management strategies.
* Assist in securing new contracts by preparing technical proposals and tenders.
Person Specification:
* Minimum Level 8 qualification in Civil/Structural Engineering.
* Ideally 10 years of relevant work experience in a design consultancy, with significant experience in water and wastewater infrastructure design
* Proven competency in the structural design of water-retaining structures and the application of Eurocodes and British Standards. Must be proficient in industry-standard design software.
* Experience in water and wastewater infrastructure design and in particular, experience working on Uisce Eireann projects and knowledge of Uisce Eireann standards and /or experience working on one of the UK AMP Frameworks
* Experience in acting as a designer for a Contractor
* Demonstrated experience in leading and managing design teams and dealing effectively with clients.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team to meet tight deadlines.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
