We are seeking a commercially focused Finance Director to join our growing business. This role has a strong emphasis on financial control, payroll management, labour planning, and the development of robust reporting systems and KPIs to support decision-making and growth.

The Role
Lead financial planning, budgeting, and cash flow management
Oversee weekly payroll processing, including hours, overtime, and compliance
Manage and improve timesheet and payroll systems (e.g. Sage Payroll, Bright HR)
Manage invoicing, creditor control, debtor control, banking, tax returns, CSO submissions, etc.
Develop and implement reporting systems, dashboards, and KPIs
Monitor labour costs, productivity, and staffing efficiency
Support workforce planning and cost forecasting
Produce timely management accounts and actionable financial insights
Oversee annual/periodic audit with external auditors
Ensure compliance with tax, payroll, and regulatory requirements
About You
Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA preferred) or equivalent experience
Strong experience in payroll, labour cost control, and financial reporting
Experience building reporting systems and performance KPIs
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Commercial mindset with ability to analyse and improve efficiency
Comfortable working in a fast-paced SME environment
Desirable
Experience in payroll-heavy environments (e.g. food production, retail, logistics)
Strong Excel and systems implementation skills
Experience leveraging automation, outsourcing, or AI tools in finance functions
