Encyclis Dublin Waste to Energy Facility is located in Dublin 4, on the Poolbeg peninsula. The facility has been operational since 2017, diverting over 600,000 tonnes of residual waste from landfill each year and providing baseload electricity to power over 100,000 homes.

Summary
Coordinate and supervise the day-to-day activities of the assigned operations staff by performing the duties personally or through subordinate employees.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
* Oversee the safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient operation of the facility on a rotating shift basis.
* Monitor and operate, as necessary, boilers, flue gas treatment, water treatment, turbine/generator, switchgear, and other auxiliary plant systems.
* Tour all areas of the plant and monitor the activities of the assigned operating staff.
* During emergency or unusual situations, direct or personally perform the required operations or corrective actions and coordinate activities of all personnel involved.
* Approve requests for removing equipment from service for maintenance, or other purposes and ensure equipment is properly cleared and tagged in accordance with facility procedures.
* Conduct regular safety reviews for operators under supervision.
* Serve as emergency coordinator in the absence of the Facility/Department Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise a group of employees in the Operations Department such as control room operators, crane operators, equipment operators, utility operators, auxiliary operators, tipping floor operators, scale operators and laborers. Responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit, following organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning and directing work, approving time sheets, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving issues.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Requires a broad background in plant operations with at least five (5) years of experience in a power or resource recovery plant environment, including hands-on and/or supervisory experience with high pressure boilers and electric generation equipment. Secondary education (Irish Leaving Certificate) is required as a minimum. An engineering degree or equivalent is desirable.
Language Skills
English, both written and verbal, required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general administrative periodicals, technical procedures, plant drawings and regulations. Ability to write reports and correspondence, and to present information to groups of managers and subordinates.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to take appropriate safe action on own initiative to prevent equipment damage or injury to personnel during emergencies or unusual situations. Ability to motivate employees, maintain high morale, and respect people.
