The project
The role is within the chief infrastructure office of a semi‑state organisation in Ireland responsible for the delivery of high voltage station and circuit projects as well as upgrade and refurbishment projects on the existing transmission network. Responsibilities within this role will include managing these projects from conceptual phase through feasibility, statutory planning assessment and consent to handover for detailed design and construction phase. The role will involve a combination of office‑based working and visits to sites where assets are located across the transmission network.
You’ll be responsible for
Managing cost management updates during weekly project team meetings.
Preparing and maintaining budget, expenditure, and forecast data within cost reporting systems in line with established reporting cycles; ensuring accurate upkeep of programme and financial trackers and assisting the Programme Controls Manager in producing management reports.
Recording financial transactions promptly and accurately in financial systems, collaborating with procurement to ensure proper handling of contracts, variations, and invoices.
Assisting Project Managers in drafting financial content for approval papers.
Providing cost data required for Gateway submissions.
Identifying, quantifying, and monitoring cost efficiencies across all projects.
Performing earned value analysis and recommending corrective actions for emerging negative trends.
Supporting Project Managers in developing project budgets and forecasts.
Monitoring contingency drawdowns and providing recommendations as needed.
Assisting senior leadership in the annual business planning process.
Collaborating with Project Managers to procure and manage consultants and other contracted services.
Directing cost trending reviews and analysis, challenging service providers on cost performance where necessary.
You’ll need to have
A degree in quantity surveying/cost management (or equivalent).
Professional membership such as MRICS/RICS (or equivalent).
Detailed knowledge of most forms of contract.
Sound knowledge of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction; proficient knowledge and expertise in the specific sector/market of the project/role.
Sound knowledge and ability to undertake and advise on Contract Administration and Contract Management.
Capex and Opex cost analysis/advice.
