A leading Irish provider of accountancy and advisory services is seeking an Assistant Manager to join their expanding Galway office. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious qualified accountant to step into a leadership role within a high‑performing, collaborative team. You will work closely with senior management, oversee a diverse client portfolio, and play a key role in driving service excellence across the practice.
Responsibilities
Lead the preparation and review of client files and financial statements, ensuring high-quality delivery within agreed budgets and timelines.
Manage and oversee accounts preparation and income tax returns for individuals, sole traders, partnerships, and company directors.
Review financial reports and present key findings and recommendations directly to senior management and clients.
Supervise, mentor, and develop junior and part‑qualified staff, providing technical guidance and supporting their professional growth.
Oversee compliance with accounting standards and internal quality procedures, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.
Support the delivery of statutory accounting, compliance, and advisory services across a broad and varied client base.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring client expectations are consistently exceeded.
Contribute to workflow planning, resource allocation, and continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation and identifying opportunities to expand client services.
Occasional travel may be required depending on client needs.
Requirements
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) with 2+ years post‑qualification experience, ideally within a practice environment.
Strong background in small to medium practice, with experience managing audit‑exempt clients.
Proven ability to supervise and develop junior team members.
Strong technical knowledge of Irish accounting standards, income tax, and compliance requirements.
Excellent communication, organisational, and client‑facing skills, with the ability to provide clear, commercially focused advice.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality output.
Ambition to progress within a growing firm and take on increasing leadership responsibility.
