About KNEED
Over 300,000 adults in Ireland live with knee osteoarthritis linked to excess weight — yet most receive only partial first-line care that treats symptoms rather than the main driver. Physiotherapy and medication can relieve pain, but without effective weight loss, joint strain and disease progression continue, keeping surgery risk and healthcare dependence high.
KNEED was inspired by the Better Knee, Better Me program developed by the University of Melbourne, now being rolled out nationally across Australia. Its innovative medical dietary approach in the initial phase finally makes weight loss a realistic treatment option, while its digital structure makes it feasible to deliver complete first-line care that combines physiotherapy, education, and weight management in one accessible model — helping to break the cycle of temporary relief.
Building on this proven, evidence-based foundation, KNEED delivers an integrated, clinician-led approach in Ireland — helping patients achieve meaningful, lasting improvements from home.
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Physiotherapist to join our digital care team and deliver one-to-one online sessions for adults with knee osteoarthritis who have been referred by their doctor to the KNEED program.
You'll lead patients through a structured exercise therapy pathway, provide tailored education on joint health and self-management, and support them in using a physiotherapy app to follow their personalized home exercise plans. Full training in the KNEED protocol and digital tools will be provided.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll play a key role in helping patients reduce pain, improve mobility, and achieve long-term results — all from the comfort of their own homes.
This is a part-time contractor position designed to supplement existing clinical work rather than replace full-time employment. Initial patient volumes may be small as the program launches and scales up.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver one-to-one physiotherapy consultations via Microsoft Teams, following KNEED's structured protocol.
* Conduct comprehensive remote assessments via video — reviewing symptoms, activity levels, and functional movement to tailor each patient's home exercise plan.
* Prescribe and progress evidence-based exercises, ensuring correct technique, safe progression, and sustained adherence.
* Provide education on knee osteoarthritis, pain management, and the role of physical activity and weight management in long-term joint health.
* Support patients in using the physiotherapy app to access their tailored home exercise plans, track progress, and communicate between sessions.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation and outcome tracking in line with professional standards and data protection requirements.
* Ensure a professional and safe remote consultation environment with a reliable internet connection, suitable workspace, and clear video communication.
* Collaborate closely with KNEED's dietitians and program coordinator to deliver integrated, patient-centred care.
* Support program promotion and clinician education primarily online, with possible in-person involvement in activities such as webinars, events, or Q&A sessions if required.
Requirements / Qualifications
* BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy from an accredited university.
* Current CORU registration essential.
* Minimum 2 years of musculoskeletal experience.
* Strong knowledge of exercise prescription.
* Must have a home setup suitable for clear and professional exercise demonstrations on camera and be willing to show their intended workspace during onboarding to ensure it meets program standards.
* Comfortable delivering care via video consultation and digital platforms (training provided).
* Excellent communication and motivational skills to engage and support patients remotely.
* Ability to maintain accurate clinical notes and manage patient data in line with professional and GDPR standards.
* Works on a self-employed contractor basis.
* Reliable internet connection and workspace suitable for remote consultations.
