Exclusive Head of Commercial Finance - Sport
Robert Walters is working exclusively with a well known sports organisation to hire a Head of Commercial Finance.
You will prioritise spending on projects that deliver maximum benefit and will be relied upon and empowered to make key decisions and hold the business accountable for expenditure.
Key responsibilities of the Head of Commercial Finance
Lead a team of four supporting all areas of the business in goals of increasing participation, maximising elite performance, driving commercial revenues and delivering world class events, as well as support functions including marketing, technology and business operations.
Work with major stakeholders, providing relevant and accurate information and analysis on a timely basis.
Oversee the preparation of the monthly management accounts, annual budget and forecasts, and produce robust analysis on all areas of material spend.
Support short term operational decisions as well as long-term investment strategies.
Provide financial planning and analysis to support decisions, ensure upfront cost-benefit analysis, and perform post investment analysis to measure the success of larger investments.
Key requirements of the Head of Commercial Finance
Able to influence stakeholders across different levels with strong interpersonal skills
Deliver on time and to a consistently high standard
Clear communicator with attention to detail who can simplify complex information
Commitment to problem-solving and improving processes, always anticipating questions
Strong organisation, prioritisation and time management skills with the ability to support a team of direct reports
Highly numerate, analytical and commercially minded with expert Excel, report writing and experience with financial systems (e.g. Sage / WAP)
Strong management accounting, analytical and reporting skills with experience in business plan preparation and forecasting
ACCA, CIMA or similarly qualified with experience in a commercial finance function
Strong communicator who anticipates the needs of key stakeholders
Highly proactive with a can-do attitude
Hard working and driven to succeed in line with the organisation's strategy pillars
Ability to work on own initiative and be highly accountable
A great leader and motivator of others
