Construction Safety Lead We are seeking a dedicated Construction safety lead to play a pivotal role in an organisation by providing leadership to the site contractor safety coordinator team. This position is critical in ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices are maintained across our multiple construction projects.
Responsibilities
* Provide leadership and direction to the site contractor safety coordinator team, ensuring that all team members are aligned with the organisation's safety goals and objectives.
* Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for construction HSE documents and standards adapting to regulatory requirements in conjunction with industry and corporate standards
* Deliver direction and governance for a number of HSE Programmes, including project supervisor design process, project supervisor construction stage, and the maintenance department on site.
* Identify potential safety hazards and risks on construction sites and develop proactive strategies to mitigate these risks. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
* Be a technical expert for the LIFE Programs/Risks applicable to the projects.
* Have working knowledge in Environmental Programs applicable to the Construction Industry
* Develop and implement comprehensive safety training programs for all site personnel, including contractors and subcontractors. Ensure that all team members are adequately trained in safety procedures and protocols.
* Lead investigations into any safety incidents or near misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Maintain detailed records of all safety incidents and corrective measures taken.
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to promote a culture of safety across all construction activities. Ensure that safety considerations are integrated into all aspects of project planning and execution.
Requirements:
* Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
* Professional certification in safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is highly desirable.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety leadership role within the construction industry.
* Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices in construction.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
