Hospital Sterile Services Department (HSSD/CSSD) Operative Endoscopy(Permanent & Temporary Panel, Full Time)The post holder will report to the Clinical Nurse Manager 2 or designated officer and is accountable to the ADON of DecontaminationResponsibilities - The post holder will be responsible for;HSSD operatives must organise their workload to ensure services and processes are maintained and correct standards are adhered to at all times in accordance with HSE Standards and Recommended Practices for Decontamination and adhere to both HIQA and JAG guidelines and standards.Have a working knowledge and comply with implementing Health Service Executive, (HSE, Standards and Recommended Practices for commissioning Validation and Testing in Endoscopes Decontamination Facilities, Recommended Practices for Endoscope Reprocessing Units, Health Service Executive and Standards and Recommended Practices for Central Decontamination Units (HSE 2011)HSSD operative staff will rotate throughout each area of the decontamination unit in the endoscopy department, from the dirty room, clean room and to the endoscopy procedure rooms.An on-call service must be provided to process and decontaminate the endoscopes utilised out of hours at the weekend including bank and public holidays, during scheduled or unscheduled closures of the Endoscopy department .Evaluate and manage the implementation of best practice policies and procedures, control in usage of stock and equipment in the area assigned.Ensure all plant and maintenance and equipment maintenance and testing is carried out in accordance with requirements and that records are maintained, and that appropriate action is taken if systems fail.Have a working knowledge of HIQA standards as they apply to the role/ care setting, for example, Standards for Healthcare, National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections, Hygiene standards.Eligibility CriteriaCandidates must:Acute healthcare setting experienceAndHave experience in Decontamination and/or C.S.S.D.AndHave a Certificate in Endoscope Decontamination and/or Certificate in Reusable Invasive Medical Device Decontamination or willingness to undertake sameAndCandidates must have the personal competence and capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.Closing date for applications is 1pm, Tuesday 25th November 2025The MUH reserve the right to create a panel for this post from which permanent, fixed term and specified purpose vacancies of a full or part time duration may be filled.
