Orange Recruitment have partnered with an established engineering and manufacturing business specialising in advanced cooling solutions is seeking a HVAC Design Engineer to join its product engineering function. The HVAC Design Engineer role sits at the centre of design development for bespoke air handling and cooling equipment used in technically demanding environments, including data centres. Reporting directly to the Product Engineering Manager, the HVAC Design Engineer will support the development, verification, and documentation of engineered solutions, working closely with applications, production, and quality teams to ensure designs are technically robust, manufacturable, and aligned with customer position would suit an engineer with hands-on HVAC design Engineer experience who enjoys working through the full lifecycle of engineered products from concept through to manufacture. Responsibilities: Support the product engineering team in the development of design concepts for specialised HVAC and cooling equipment, including air handling units, evaporative cooling systems, and cooling distribution units Select and verify key components such as coils, compressors, fans, dampers, actuators, filters, and louvres in line with performance and project requirements Produce, review, and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, datasheets, technical submittals, installation and maintenance manuals, and spare parts lists Ensure all designs comply with approved project specifications and applicable standards Provide technical input to tender submissions, including review of client specifications and preparation of technical responses in collaboration with applications engineering and commercial teams Coordinate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are practical, consistent, and fully transferable into manufacture Maintain design consistency and quality across projects for repeat customers and framework agreements Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product design, standardisation, and documentation The role may also include additional engineering or project-related duties as required from time to time. Requirements: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, HVAC, or a related discipline Minimum of 2 years' experience in mechanical or HVAC design, ideally within a manufacturing or engineered-product environment Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems and component selection Experience using CAD and 3D modelling software, with SolidWorks preferred Ability to interpret and work from 2D technical drawings Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and general IT tools Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively Comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills Desirable: Experience in HVAC manufacturing design Exposure to data centre air handling or mission-critical cooling systems Mechanical and/or controls design experience Background in building services engineering Experience working in a LEAN manufacturing or engineering environment Familiarity with Revit Skills: Design HVAC Design Engineer Conceptual HVAC Design Engineer Precision-driven HVAC Design Engineer CAD-proficient HVAC Design Engineer Revit-literate HVAC Design Engineer BIM-aware HVAC Design Engineer Drawing-accurate HVAC Design Engineer
