Dublin Central Mission is currently recruiting for an Activities Assistant working in day centres across our various sites on a 30 hour per week basis. The ideal candidate will have social care experience, experience as a Healthcare Assistant, Activities Assistant and possess minimum of 2 QQI Level 5 in Healthcare modules.
Please note that own transport and a full clean drivers licence is required for this role.

Overview of the role
The Activities Assistant will provide a wide range of activities, to interest and stimulate the physical and mental well-being of the residents & service users who attend our day services. The role will involve working across all our day services on various sites.
Eligibility Criteria
* Experience in the planning and delivery of an activities programme for older persons.
* Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
* Strong computer/MS Office experience and capable of producing the required administrative reports and documents as required.
* Excellent communication skills with a flexible and innovative attitude to the role.
* Full driving License, access to own car
* Experience in Health Care Assistant role.
* QQI Level 5 in Healthcare
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
o Assist in the delivery of a person-centred activities programme of arts & crafts, gentle exercise, games, music, social recreation, hobbies and sensory stimulation taking into account the needs and interests of individual service users as outlined in their personal profile. The role will include provision of basic supports including assisting day service attendees with personal care/toileting needs and mobilisation.
o Maintain accurate records relating to the programme, participation rates, interactions and outcomes including resident feedback.
o Assess individual needs continuously and liaise with staff regarding resident / service users reviews as appropriate. Report any changes in service users' physical or emotional condition to the Day Service Manager.
o Provide comfort and company, on a one-to-one basis for service users where appropriate.
o Promote and maintain good interpersonal relationships with all service users, residents, families, volunteers, visitors and MDT members as appropriate encouraging involvement in the activities programme where possible.
o Work as part of the Activities team to ensure work is delegated work across the team as appropriate
o To maintain strict confidentiality regarding all matters concerning all day centre service users, residents, staff and business.
o Information regarding service users, residents, staff or business may not be divulged or discussed except in the performance of normal duty.
o Records, documents or correspondence may never be left in such a manner that unauthorised persons can obtain access to them.
o The Activities Assistant is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of themselves and others so far as is reasonably practicable.
o Be familiar and comply with the safety, health and welfare provisions as set out in the Safety Statement, safety regulations and prevailing safety legislation.
o Attend all mandatory Health & Safety Training and participate in fire drills and observe fire orders.
o Report all accidents/incidents/near misses in line with Health and Safety Legislation.
o Complete training requirements to maintain competency and capability.
o Identify professional education and learning needs
o Take on other such duties as Management may require from time to time.
o Work as an active member of the team and attend staff meetings as required.
