A public sector organisation is seeking a
Payroll Manager
to support payroll operations on a
part-time, 6-month rolling contract
. This role offers the opportunity to manage and oversee all aspects of payroll processing within a collaborative finance and HR environment.
It's well suited to an experienced payroll professional who is confident working within an outsourced payroll model and ensuring compliance with strict deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
* Administer and coordinate payroll via the
Paycheck Plus portal
.
* Gather, validate, and prepare payroll data, including starters, leavers, promotions, statutory leave, and pension contributions.
* Maintain and update monthly payroll files subject to audit.
* Extract and reconcile payroll reports and ensure accuracy of data.
* Conduct first-level checks on Gross-to-Net reports and liaise with HR and Finance for review and final approval.
* Upload pension data to third-party portals.
* Adhere to payroll cut-off dates and submission deadlines.
* Support internal and external payroll audits.
* Assist with onboarding and transition activities related to a new payroll supplier, ensuring continuity and data integrity.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience in
payroll administration or management
, ideally within an
outsourced payroll model
.
* Strong understanding of
statutory and non-statutory pay elements
, including pensions, leave, and benefits.
* Experience with
Paycheck Plus
or similar payroll systems.
* Knowledge of
transitioning between payroll providers
is desirable.
* Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability, and ability to handle confidential data.
* High proficiency in
Microsoft Excel
.
Additional Details
* 3 days per week
(pro-rated salary).
* Hybrid working model
* 2 days in-office, 1 day remote.
* Must be available during critical payroll periods (e.g. payroll cut-offs, audits).
