Role Overview
Permanent Way Lead at Jacobs responsible for shaping major Heavy Rail, Light Rail and Metro programmes across Ireland, leading teams, influencing national infrastructure and driving delivery for clients such as Iarnród Éireann, Transport Infrastructure Ireland and the National Transport Authority.
Key Deliverables

Lead Permanent Way engineering delivery, driving safe, timely and cost‑effective completion of all Permanent Way activities.
Ensure full alignment with Irish Rail standards, client requirements and relevant legislation, including CDM and CSM‑RA.
Oversee design and construction compliance, maintaining rigorous compliance with standards, approvals processes and technical specifications.
Manage and assure Permanent Way design and construction elements—reviewing outputs, addressing risks.
Act as a technical authority for P‑Way.
Serve as CRE/SPE/PE (or equivalent), providing trusted engineering leadership and resolving complex technical issues.

Requirements

Located in Ireland to support strong face‑to‑face engagement with key clients.
Experience acting as Permanent Way Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE), Senior Project Engineer (SPE), Project Engineer (PE) or equivalent.
Proven ability to lead Permanent Way engineering activities, ensuring safe, timely and cost‑effective delivery of client requirements.
Experience managing Permanent Way design and/or construction elements, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
Competency in CDM, CSM‑RA, risk assessment and Engineering Management.
Working knowledge of Irish Rail standards, approval processes and standard deliverables.
Knowledge of Bentley RailTrack, Bentley OpenRail, ClearRoute2, DGauge Rift and/or Bentley MicroStation.
