Civils Operative - RailwayA requirement now exists for the position of Civils Operative to work across various sites on the Iarnród Éireann (IE) and light rail (Luas) infrastructure. Working hours will vary, as the role will involve a mix of day and night shifts, depending on operational and project requirements. Reporting to the GPX Rail Chargehand / Client Supervisor, the successful applicant will be responsible for supporting a range of civil engineering and maintenance works on the railway infrastructure. This includes groundworks, drainage, ducting, fencing, minor concrete works and other associated duties, ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently in accordance with railway regulations and company standards.Looking for applicants to start Mid-Late January.Main Duties & Responsibilities· Meet team at designated access point· Carry out civils and trackside work including but not limited to:o Saw cuttingo Breaking out railo Installing rebaro Mixing and pouring concreteo Excavations and reinstatemento Drainage installation and repairso Fencing and boundary workso General groundworks and site clearanceo Cable ducting and troughing installationo Lineside structures and chamber installation· Work safely within possession and isolation windows as per the Client safety standards· Load and unload van in preparation for works being carried out· Operate tools and plant in line with safety and training standards· Complete site paperwork including permits, safety briefings and daily risk assessments· Maintain PPE that does not compromise safety and ensure all PPE is worn at all times· Ensure housekeeping is maintained to a high standard· Play a lead role in relation to attendance and performance· Ad hoc duties as requiredRequirementsExcellent communication skillsAbility to work without supervisionExperience in civil engineering or groundworks (ideally within rail)Awareness of health & safety best practiceDemonstrate 100% flexibility as no two days will be the sameSafe Pass CardManual Handling CertificateWillingness to work unsociable hours including nights and weekendsPhysically fit and able to carry out demanding work in all weather conditionsDesirableFull Irish / EU Driving Licence10 Years Experience (civils experience)PTS (Personal Track Safety)First AidAbrasive WheelsSmall Plant / Machinery tickets (CSCS or equivalent)360 Excavator, Site Dumper, Bobcat.LUGS or similar cable handling / installation trainingBenefitsCompetitive Pay: Based on experience and qualificationsAnnual Leave: 20 days paid holiday + 9 public holidays (statutory)Additional Pay: Enhanced rates for weekend worksPension Scheme: Company pension contribution from start dateEmployee Assistance Programme (EAP): Free, confidential support for mental health, financial advice and wellbeingTraining & Development: Opportunities to gain industry recognised qualifications and ticketsAt any time, you can discuss this role further with Sean Lawlor.
