Senior Lead Project Engineer (Infrastructure Teams – Connection Projects, Network Projects, PMO)

About the Role
Our client are the people behind Ireland’s Electricity Grid. They operate the Power System with world‑leading levels of variable asynchronous Renewable Generation, ensuring that everyone has power when they need it. They are now transforming the power system for future generations to transform the Power System to enable society to reduce Carbon Emissions and meet its Climate Change and Net Zero ambitions, and to make the grid ready to carry 80% of Ireland's electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and be net‑carbon neutral by 2050.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be involved with the project management of Large‑Scale Infrastructure Projects – on‑time and within budget, respecting established governance and controls. The role holder will work across the Entire Life Cycle – from Project Initiation, through Construction and Commissioning and right up to project close.
The team manages new 400 kV, 220 kV and 110 kV station and circuit projects, as well as upgrade and refurbishment projects on the existing network, from concept and feasibility, through statutory planning, consent, handover for detailed design, to construction.
The role involves a combination of office‑based work and site visits to existing and new substations and transmission circuit sites.
Qualifications
Engineering degree or equivalent, typically with 6 years relevant experience and a holistic understanding of the Power Industry.
Proven experience of managing a portfolio of Large‑Scale Projects – overseeing the delivery of Complex Solutions and an ability to drive successful outcomes.
Passionate, engaging with a drive and enthusiasm to deliver on the company Strategy with and through others.
Excellent communicator, able to articulate Technical Concepts and analysis to non‑technical audiences and business leaders.
Ability to coach and develop high‑performance capabilities in a changing and dynamic environment.
Strong understanding of the requirements of stakeholders and industry for the transmission system and associated developments.
