Job Overview:
The role of a procurement expert focuses on overseeing all commercial aspects within the plumbing category portfolio. The position involves managing product ranges to ensure a competitive and innovative assortment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in developing and implementing procurement strategies aligned to the overall category strategy.
* Monitor market dynamics, industry developments, competitive landscape, emerging technologies, to identify opportunities, inform procurement decisions, mitigate risks.
* Manage internal procurement processes and supply-chain considerations to ensure material requirements are met on time and in full.
* Negotiate terms and conditions, price, RFPs/RFQs, bid evaluations, and delivery charges to ensure optimal product cost.
* Leverage market insight and sales team feedback to implement price management strategies that maximise profitability and competitiveness and optimise margins.
* Utilise data-driven insights to track portfolio performance against targets (sales, cost, margin, service, stock) and drive continuous improvement.
* Collaborate with suppliers to drive availability, innovation, lowest cost, and continuous improvement.
* Work collaboratively across functions to understand requirements of the procurement function and drive portfolio success.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Bachelors degree in business, economics, or related field.
* Strong commercial acumen with proven experience (3+ years), preferably within wholesale or retail industries.
* Experience in negotiation and procurement with ability to optimise cost while maintaining supplier relationships.
* Excellent analytical skills to interpret complex data and market trends into actionable insights.
* Effective communication, engagement and presentation skills to engage stakeholders and influence outcomes.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel) and experience with purchasing platforms and ERP systems.
