Senior Director, Research & Development, Infectious Disease
The Infectious Disease (ID) business unit is part of Abbott Rapid Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry-leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions.
This position is within our ID Business Unit and is a member of the R&D senior leadership team. Oversight and leadership over all of the division's Lateral Flow R&D activities are key responsibilities.
The role requires a strong commitment to understanding leading practices in product development processes, clinical program management, and structures. Excellent leadership and communication style with ability to influence stakeholders, peers across the business.
* Execution and delivery of products on time for commercial launches, within defined scope, meeting product requirements, and on budget.
* Model behaviors of a learning-focused, continuous improvement mindset and be a self and team practitioner of R&D Excellence.
* Key leadership role in NPI process and drives stage gate discipline and compliance.
* Evaluate new technologies for potential acquisition or internal funding/development.
The successful candidate will have expertise in Lateral flow technology including assay design, development, and transfer. A comprehensive understanding of IVD market and regulatory environment is also required.
Bachelor of Science in biological or medical science preferred. Master's Degree or higher is desirable. 12-15 years of R&D experience with a background in the medical diagnostic industry.
