Health & Safety Officer, High Dependency Hospital, Dublin North

Salary: €58,000 - €65,000 (DOE) with 2% annual increments thereafter
Working Hours: 35 hour standard working week, Mon - Fri
Annual Leave: 30 days
Health & Safety Officer sought for one of our Public Sector clients. This role is based in a High Secured, Mental Health Medical Facility Campus in North County Dublin. Your role will be to facilitate compliance with the corporate Health & Safety Statement and associated processes, policies, and legislations. Additional responsibilities will include:
Operational
1. Coordinate, develop plans for areas of responsibility
2. Issue recommendations on control measures
3. Assist in the management of health & safety meets with the overall objectives of Corporate and legislation
4. Ensure efficient administration of Health & Safety data collection
5. Analyse and report trends; reviews/incidents/risk/quality indicators/quality improvement action plans/national quality improvements & audits
Training
1. Promote local awareness regarding the need for training
2. Co-ordinate training at local level
3. Undertake a Training Needs Assessment (TNA) / Deliver training programmes as required
4. Ensure training records are maintained within each local area
5. Lead on local audit data from responsible persons and report on performance to the Management Team in relation to standards, policies, procedures, and legislation
6. Maintain and develop competency in national standards from regulatory and legal bodies
Corporate Governance
1. Establish and maintain Corporate Governance procedures
2. Provide guidance to all managers and staff and contribute to the development of corporate policy and decisions
3. Take strategic direction from the National Health & Safety Function (NHSF)
4. Act as lead liaison with the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) on health and safety management matters
5. Act as liaison with the State Claims Agency on health and safety management strategies aimed at reducing the incidence of harm and providing support to claims management structures to reduce cost
Service Development
1. Develop, maintain and monitor implementation of a 3 year health and safety management action plan
2. Develop policies, procedures, and guidelines as appropriate
3. Ensure that systems are in place to evaluate and review performance against agreed targets and performance indicators
4. Contribute to service planning and the estimates process and support the implementation of service plan objectives
Requirements to Apply
1. Hold QQI level 8 (or higher) major academic award, or equivalent, in Health and Safety accredited for Graduate Membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)
2. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an Occupational Health and Safety Officer/Advisor role with at least 1.5 years’ experience in healthcare in a clinical or support services role or similar environment
3. Possess requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and management ability, for the proper discharge of the office
4. Own transport as it’s a sizable campus
