Disaster Recovery Lead Our client, a leading organisation in the transport sector, is seeking a Disaster Recovery Lead to take ownership of enterprise-wide Disaster Recovery strategy and implementation.
This is the first dedicated DR role within the business, giving the successful candidate a unique opportunity to shape and lead the function from the ground up.
The Role The Disaster Recovery Lead will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maturing the organisation's DR capability across data centres, cloud platforms, and critical applications.
While Business Continuity is in scope, the emphasis is firmly on enterprise-level IT Disaster Recovery.
You will: Lead the design and delivery of the organisation's Disaster Recovery strategy.
Define and manage DR frameworks, policies, and procedures.
Plan, coordinate, and execute enterprise-scale DR testing (e.g., data centre failover, cloud recovery).
Partner with IT, risk, and operational leaders to ensure resilience for critical systems.
Engage and manage third-party vendors in delivering DR solutions and tests.
Report on readiness, risks, and improvement plans to senior stakeholders.
Act as the subject matter expert during major incidents requiring recovery activation.
Ensure alignment with industry frameworks and regulatory requirements (ISO 27001, NIST, NIS2).
Experience & Competencies Proven track record (2+ years) in a specialised Disaster Recovery role.
5+ years' experience in IT roles with strong technical knowledge.
Practical experience of enterprise DR testing (data centre failover, recovery planning, cloud failover).
Solid understanding of Microsoft Office 365 and Azure environments.
Knowledge of cloud computing models (Iaa S, Paa S, Saa S).
Familiarity with security and risk frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, CIS Controls).
Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to lead strategy, build processes, and influence senior decision makers.
Qualifications & Certifications Relevant third-level degree or equivalent experience.
Professional certifications such as CRISC, CISM, CBCI (advantageous).
