As we continue to expand, we are seeking a Head of Energy Modelling to lead and develop our energy modelling function, playing a strategic role in shaping high-impact, low-carbon building solutions across our commercial and public-sector projects.
This senior position offers a unique opportunity to drive innovation, influence sustainable design decisions, and lead a team of modellers and consultants.
You will be a key player in delivering decarbonisation strategies and compliance modelling, ensuring technical excellence across all projects.
Key Responsibilities - reporting to Director of Sustainability Lead the energy modelling team and provide technical oversight on all modelling projects using IES VE and other industry-standard tools Develop and refine modelling standards, QA/QC procedures, and workflows to ensure consistency, efficiency, and technical accuracy Support strategic decision-making around sustainability, operational energy, embodied carbon, and net-zero pathways for new and existing developments Engage with senior clients and stakeholders, presenting findings and advising on design optimisation, regulatory compliance, and sustainability certifications (e.g., BER, LEED, BREEAM, NZEB) Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams including architects, engineers, and sustainability consultants Stay ahead of policy changes, building regulations, and industry innovation to maintain our competitive edge Mentor and develop junior staff through structured training and project leadership Contribute to business development by supporting proposals, attending industry events, and building client relationships Candidate Profile This role is ideal for a technically strong and commercially aware professional ready to take the next step into leadership, or an experienced team leader seeking to shape the direction of energy modelling services in a dynamic, growing company.
Minimum 5 years' experience in building energy modelling, with a proven track record in delivering high-quality work across large-scale commercial or public-sector projects Advanced proficiency in IES VE software and strong understanding of Irish Building Regulations (Part L) Degree in engineering, architecture, environmental science, or a related field Deep understanding of energy use in buildings, passive design, HVAC systems, and low-carbon technologies Strong leadership, organisational, and team management skills Experience in client-facing roles with excellent communication and presentation abilities Working knowledge of operational and embodied carbon, whole life-cycle carbon assessment, and net-zero carbon frameworks Experience with BREEAM, LEED, or WELL certification Familiarity with other modelling or simulation tools (e.g., Design Builder) Chartered status or working toward it (e.g., CIBSE, Engineers Ireland) Why Join Us High-impact role in a company driving sustainability in the built environment Career development opportunities with a clear path to associate/director-level positions Flexible working arrangements and supportive team culture Access to cutting-edge tools, CPD support, and a diverse range of projects What Lawler Group are offering: Private healthcare fully subsidised
