Role Overview
We are currently seeking an
Accounts & Compliance Assistant
to join a
busy professional accountancy practice
based in
County Meath
. This is a
hands-on accounts administration and compliance support role
, focused on
practice operations, client file management, bookkeeping checks, and year-end preparation
across a portfolio of SME clients.
This role is not suitable for part-qualified accountants seeking progression to accountant or advisory-level work.
The role is
admin-heavy and compliance-focused
, requiring strong organisational skills and prior
practice experience
.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing
multiple client files
within a professional accountancy practice
* Supporting
year-end accounts preparation
by collating documentation and preparing files for review
* Performing
practice-level bookkeeping checks
, including:
* Bank reconciliations
* Trial balance (TB) checks
* Debtors and creditors reviews
* Assisting with
practice compliance requirements
, including:
* CRA (Client Risk Assessment)
* KYC / AML documentation
* ROS administration and filings
* Preparing and maintaining
client records, working papers, and compliance files
* Drafting and issuing
client correspondence and standard practice letters
* Monitoring
practice deadlines
and ensuring timely completion of administrative tasks
* Supporting partners and senior staff with general
accounts administration and compliance tasks
Must-Have Criteria (Non-Negotiable – Used as Screening Filters)
Candidates
must meet all
of the following:
* Minimum
1 year experience in an Accountancy Practice
* Industry-only backgrounds will not be considered
* Demonstrated understanding of:
* Managing multiple client files
* Practice deadlines and workflows
* Year-end accounts processes
* Compliance requirements (CRA, KYC, ROS)
* Practice-level bookkeeping and admin experience
, including:
* Bank reconciliations
* Trial balance checks
* Debtors / creditors reviews
* Year-end file preparation
* Comfortable in a
highly administrative, compliance-focused role
* Strong organisational, documentation, and file management skills
* Living within reasonable commuting distance of Co. Meath
* This is
not a Dublin city role
Preferred (But Flexible)
* Accounting Technician or Bookkeeper background
* IATI qualification
– desirable but not essential
* Strong familiarity with
ROS
* Experience using
Xero, Sage, and/or QuickBooks
* Experience over qualifications
– candidates with strong practice experience and no formal qualification are welcome
