Job Purpose
Assist the Equipment Engineering department to develop new manufacturing and test equipment and systems used in the development and production of medical devices. Independently or as a member of a team, develop specifications, designs, plans, and complex manufacturing and test equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Develop robust, flexible, reusable, efficient, and scalable manufacturing applications.
* Design, develop, monitor databases, and author SQL scripts.
* Collaborate with customers to define system requirements and propose creative, cost‑effective solutions for new and upgraded equipment.
* Write detailed functional design requirements.
* Participate in all phases of software development including design, implementation, unit testing, integration, release, and validation support.
* Generate quotations, concepts, and business cases for new and upgraded equipment.
* Commission, test, troubleshoot, and support existing and new manufacturing equipment.
* Implement quality across all work by maintaining compliance with quality requirements.
* Provide technical leadership on equipment‑related product and process issues.
* Drive innovation and integrate new technologies into development strategies for the software team.
* Ensure timely delivery of equipment solutions within budget and schedule.
* Mentor less experienced staff by setting an example, offering guidance, and providing counsel.
Authority
* Stop work if unsafe practices exist, posing injury, environmental, or equipment risks.
* Adhere to Quality, Safety, and Environmental requirements at all times.
Requirements
* BSc/MSc degree or equivalent in Computer Engineering or related discipline.
* Minimum 3 years software development experience, with extensive knowledge of VB.Net and C#.
* Hardware integration experience essential.
* Back‑end software development required.
* Understanding of data modelling and relational databases (preferably SQL).
* Experience with manufacturing equipment integration using protocols such as OPC, UPC-UA, TCP/IP, HTTP.
* Machine or device control design experience.
* Excellent communication and creative problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects with strong prioritisation.
* Good knowledge of vision systems and associated tools desirable.
* Familiarity with Tableau, SQL Server Reporting Services, web application development, HTML, JavaScript, WPF desirable.
* Experience with Team Foundation Server and build processes.
* Experience in a regulated environment with 21CFR Part 11 advantageous.
