Camphill Communities of Ireland (CCoI) are recruiting for a Social Care Assistant.
Purpose of the Post
The post holder will take an active part in ensuring that the day‑to‑day operations of the Service reflect the ethos and vision of Camphill Communities of Ireland (CCoI) and that all co‑workers meet the needs of the individuals supported by the services.
The Social Care Assistant is part of a residential support team who works intensively with individuals to discover a good life for them and establish the supports needed to achieve their goals. Flexibility is required as timing and location of support are dictated by the individual's plan.
The role involves proactive teamwork and positive collaboration with the social care team and key persons in the individual's life.
Responsibilities
* Advocate and respect each person who uses the services, uphold their human, legal and constitutional rights, and empower them to grow toward personal autonomy.
* Facilitate, encourage, and develop choice, decision‑making skills and self‑advocacy for people who use the services.
* Enable each individual to pursue and maintain hobbies and interests, develop self‑help and social skills to achieve autonomy, and actively participate and integrate into the community using generic community facilities.
* Provide person‑centred support in line with individual plans, including occupation and leisure activities, communication, behaviour support plans, independent living skills, social integration, personal care and personal development.
* Assist with fostering personal hygiene, health matters and personal appearance, and with physical support such as moving, handling, fire safety, cleaning, laundry, infection control and mobility.
* Attend all medical appointments as required.
* Ensure a healthy and nutritious diet tailored to individual choice.
* Promote full participation in home life, maintaining acceptable standards and providing comprehensive, person‑centred support.
* Implement person‑centred plans, address identified needs, and participate in resident reviews.
* Drive centre transport and participate in transport duties as required, providing flexible scheduling.
* Accept delegated responsibility for the physical and emotional well‑being, personal hygiene and health of the individuals supported.
* Organise centre outings.
* Maintain safe use and care of equipment, reporting faults promptly.
* Contribute actively to the team while providing consistent quality support for vulnerable adults.
* Ensure adherence to policies, procedures and codes of practice.
* Maintain accurate records for each person, including needs assessments, risk assessments, incidents, medication management and financial records.
* Provide accurate reporting of all incidents, accidents and concerns to the Person in Charge (PIC).
* Utilise transport services efficiently and advise staff on transport needs.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
* Hold a minimum QQI Level 5 Major Award BA in Social Care Studies or equivalent qualification in Community/Health or Social Care.
* At least 1 year experience working with vulnerable adults or adults with intellectual disabilities.
* Understanding of current policy and developments at national and sectoral level in social care.
* Ability to follow plans and methods to meet ongoing needs of individuals supported.
* Effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
* Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams.
* Full driver’s licence and ownership of a vehicle.

Role Details
* Salary Scale: €30,272 to €37,483 per annum (based on a 40‑hour week).
* Location: CCO Kyle, Co. Kilkenny.
* Duration: Relief position, fixed‑term 1‑year contract.
