The Role
Reporting to the Process & Technology Manager, the Mould Tooling Engineer is primarily responsible for developing and sustaining optimum molding processes for the manufacturing of regulated molded components.
The role will provide technical and project management support for the introduction of new molding equipment and processes to the site.
It will also provide technical support for processing issues or changes on existing moulding processes.
Responsibilities include:
Leading moulding/tooling activities for new product introduction to Cork Manufacturing Operations, including project management depending on scope and complexity.
Coordinating with project leads for capital projects related to new moulding machines, mould tools, and auxiliary equipment.
Initiating equipment and mould user requirement specifications, managing vendor selection, RFQs, and equipment/mould build processes.
Participating in design reviews and FAT of new moulding equipment and tooling.
Maintaining accurate documentation of project activities in line with quality and validation guidelines.
Supporting technology improvements for moulding processes for new and existing products.
Optimizing processes using latest molding techniques, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and conducting feasibility trials/DOE's.
Ensuring new processes are designed for manufacturability, automation, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with quality and EHS standards.
Managing and executing production equipment transfers, including IQ & OQ, training, validation, troubleshooting, and documentation.
Supporting production, process scale-up, and handover to manufacturing.
Ensuring compliance with GMP and safety requirements on all equipment.
Who You Are
Bachelor's Degree in Polymer/Polymer Process Engineering or related field.
Advanced training in plastic injection molding processing; RJG Master Molder certification preferred.
8+ years of hands-on experience in high-volume injection molding.
Knowledge of medical device manufacturing, validation processes, robot programming, hot runner molds, diagnostics, and processing of engineering resins.
Ability to interpret drawings, stay updated on molding technology, and apply lean techniques.
Strong communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and teamwork skills.
