About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead and develop the estimating function. You’ll work closely with senior leadership, providing pricing, bid strategy, and commercial input at pre‑construction stage.
Key Responsibilities
Help support the Estimating Manager in leading the estimating function, managing the preparation of accurate, competitive tenders for large‑scale data centre packages.
Oversee the bid/no‑bid process, providing commercial and strategic input on new opportunities.
Collaborate with commercial, engineering, and operations teams to ensure consistent and competitive cost planning.
Analyse project specifications, drawings, and scope to ensure comprehensive, compliant pricing submissions.
Develop and maintain cost databases, benchmarking data, and market intelligence.
Build strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, securing competitive, well‑negotiated packages.
Conduct risk assessments and prepare value engineering proposals during tender phase.
Attend pre‑tender and client meetings, providing technical and commercial input.
Mentor and guide junior estimators, helping to scale the department alongside the company’s growth.
Report directly to the Commercial Director (Designate) and collaborate with board‑level leadership on bid strategy.
Ideal Candidate
7+ years’ experience in estimating or pre‑construction.
Open to any background really, CSA, MEP, Civils etc.
Demonstrated ability to lead bid teams and oversee multiple tenders simultaneously.
Excellent commercial awareness with a track record of assessing margin, risk, and bid viability.
Proficient in estimating/pricing software (Causeway, Conquest, or similar) and highly skilled in Excel.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with a collaborative and problem‑solving mindset.
Degree‑qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline.
