Mortgage Consultant
Role Purpose
The Mortgage Consultant is responsible for providing professional mortgage advice to clients, assessing affordability, recommending suitable mortgage products, and guiding applicants through the mortgage journey.
The role ensures compliance with the Central Bank of Ireland (CBOI) regulations, delivers excellent customer service, and supports business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Client Advisory & Sales
· Conduct fact-finds to assess clients' financial circumstances, needs, and objectives.
· Recommend appropriate mortgage products and most suitable lenders.
· Manage a pipeline of Clients.
· Provide clear explanations of mortgage terms, interest rates, protection products, and repayment structures.
· Meet or exceed individual and team sales targets.
Application Management
· Prepare and submit mortgage applications to lenders, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
· Liaise with lenders, solicitors, underwriters, and other third parties to progress applications.
· Monitor application status and proactively resolve issues or outstanding requirements.
· Keep clients updated regularly throughout the mortgage process.
Compliance & Regulatory Requirements
· Ensure full adherence to CBOI Guideline, Consumer Protection Code and MCC (Minimum Competency Code).
· Maintain accurate records and follow internal compliance procedures.
· Stay informed of market changes, lender criteria, and regulatory updates.
Relationship Management
· Develop strong client relationships to encourage repeat and referral business.
· Represent the company professionally at meetings and events.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
· QFA qualification
· Minimum 2-3 years' experience in mortgage advisory, lending, or financial services.
· Strong knowledge of Irish mortgage market and lender criteria.
· Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
· High attention to detail and strong organisational abilities.
· Proven sales and customer-service track record.
· Ability to learn new systems and operate same quickly
· This is a fast paced role with a High Volume of clients so exceptional organisation skills required
Desirable
· Experience in a broker environment or banking environment.
· Knowledge of protection products (life cover, mortgage protection, income protection).
· Familiarity with CRM systems and digital submission platforms.
