Munich Re Automation Solutions (MRAS) are looking to hire a Senior IT Systems Engineer to join their team in Dublin. Reporting to the IT manager, the Senior IT Systems Engineer will be involved in managing the demanding IT Infrastructure and security needs of a multinational technology SAAS company. The successful candidate will join the team that natures and cares for the IT network and infrastructure as well as providing Cloud IT administration support for our engineering teams and worldwide offices. This role offers the right candidate an excellent opportunity to broaden their technical skills (both Cloud and On-Prem Infrastructure) and make an active contribution in a multinational company as they move their IT Infrastructure from on prem to Cloud.Core ResponsibilitiesProvide the world-class infrastructure support the company needs:Respond to complex helpdesk queries from strong technical engineersEnsure the most cost-effective and efficient use of IT Infrastructure while identifying and suggesting improvements for the organisationLiaise with hardware/software vendorsEnsure proper configuration of cloud security measures such as identity and access management (IAM), firewalls and encryptionAdminister operating systems (Windows, Apple), virtual environments (VMware), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)Participate in creating and enforcing best practices, guidelines, and procedures within the technical support team.Carry out routine security checks and undertake preventative measures to maintain operational securityAnalyse and resolve faults – from major system crashes to expired service accountsManage and deploy email, anti-spam and virus protectionManage and monitor all user accounts and endpoint devices using various cloud-based toolsWork with network engineers, software developers, security professionals, and other teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of systemsInstall, support and maintain new server hardware and server infrastructure (Azure)Develop, deploy and maintain robust security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), intrusion prevention systems (IPS), encryption, and authentication systemsWork with the Development team to maintain secure access to build environmentsContinuously monitor network activity for unusual or suspicious patterns that may indicate a security threat or attack.Oversee the deployment and management of endpoint protection software (antivirus, anti-malware, device encryption) on all user devices (workstations, laptops, mobile devices)Implement and manage DLP solutions to prevent unauthorized data access, leakage, or loss from systemsImplement and manage perimeter security measures such as firewalls, virtual private networks (VPNs), and other access control technologies to prevent unauthorized access to the networkEvaluate, select, and deploy additional security tools and technologies (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection) to improve the organization's security postureSkills requiredAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, GPO, Windows OS, Exchange Server and SQL ServerAdvanced technical knowledge of IT security, networking protocols (TCP/IP), software and hardware devices, firewall and VPN configuration, remote access, backups, content filtering, malware and virus protectionAdvanced technical knowledge of Microsoft Cloud Technologies including Azure, Azure Arc, Entra ID, Intune, Office 365, Defender, Sharepoint, Teams and BYOD functionalityAdvanced technical knowledge of Palo Alto on prem and cloud firewallsAdvanced technical knowledge of managing Apple MacBook devices using MDM systemsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to think and work independently with minimal supervisionExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to prioritise work correctly and assertively, manage a range of different concurrent issues and handle user enquiries efficientlySome experience of Linux systems, databases and firewalls would be a definite advantageExperience working within an Azure DevOps environment, including automation experience with configuration management tools would be a definite advantage, but not essentialExperience working within and supporting a SAAS company would be a definite advantage, but not essentialExperience managing Email Gateway and Email Protection systemsEagerness to learn recent technologies, adapt to change and share knowledge with others in your teamEducation/Experience Required6-10 years' IT Systems Engineer experience although exceptional candidates with less experience will be consideredThird-level degree or equivalent experienceAdvanced Palo Alto / Prisma Firewall management experience and CertificationAdvanced Microsoft Azure / Office 365 management experience and CertificationExperience planning, deploying and maintaining Microsoft Suite technologies for user, endpoint and email management
