Plan, allocate and evaluate work carried out by members of the maintenance team.Deputise for the Facility Manager/Deputy Facility ManagerMaintain and develop the Hospitals Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure and systems.Maintain the Hospitals Buildings, fabric and Decor to a high standard.Maintain the Hospitals Maintenance Management Systems Asset Register, Planned Preventative maintenance routines, planned and unplanned work orders to ensure it is current and up to date.Monitor and manage external contractors working in the hospital, verifying standard and status of works undertaken and obtaining relevant service / test reports on completion of works. (Permit to Work, Induction, Hot works permits, etc)Co-ordinate the training of electrical apprentices in electrics, plumbing and Mechanical.Implementation and monitoring of Quality Assurance procedures for M&E and works carried out by other engineers and apprentices/trainees in addition to JCIA requirements.Maintenance of M&E, JCIA, manuals and records.Change / carry out / Review risk assessments and of new procedures/SOPs as required by JCIA, law, new standards etc.Support HOD in the co-ordination role in dealing with any security, Health and Safety incident.Strong knowledge of BMS systemsMaintenance of Fire Safety equipment and Systems.Maintenance of Nurse call systems, Pod systemTake part in Generator TestingTake a lead role in the Hospitals water safety groupTake a lead role in the Hospitals Legionella prevention programmeTake part in the Electrical safety groupTake part in the ventilation safety groupMember of Fire TeamMember of the Health and Safety committeeImplementation and monitoring of Quality Assurance procedures for M&E and works carried out by other engineers and apprentices/trainees in addition to JCIA requirements.Maintenance of M&E, JCIA, manuals and records.Change / carry out / Review risk assessments and of new procedures/SOPs as required by JCIA, law, new standards etc.Organise and supervise Insurance inspections of the Hospital buildings, Lifts, lifting equipment and pressurised vessels and action any recommendations as appropriateEnsure that the hospital is at all times compliant with statutory regulations of all aspects under the control of the engineering/facilities departmentApproving purchase orders for M+E. Materials and services to Supervisor level and HOD level when on leave, ensuring Hospitals purchasing Policies are adhered to.Issuing purchase orders and payment etc.Initiate value for money programmes by being pro-active in ensuring efficient and cost-effective use of resources.Quality assurance on new building works. Installation commissioning, snagging and de-snagging. Attend Site & Design Team meetings.Consultant Design Team fees, fee proposals, purchase orders and payment etc.Communication SkillsCommunicate with HOD re. Maintenance, budgets and management of Department.Accept constructive advice from Head of Department or others if necessary.Communicate with staff and patients re.
