This Work Placement Experience Programme provides participants with meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. It is designed for jobseekers who are receiving qualifying social welfare payments or transferring from a social welfare scheme or ETB Training Allowance. Job Description

As an Assistant Receptionist, the Participant will gain hands‑on experience in a professional, education‑focused environment under continuous supervision. The role introduces the Participant to a broad range of administrative and reception duties, including welcoming visitors, assisting students, managing phone and email enquiries, maintaining records, and supporting day‑to‑day office operations.


Role Description

The Participant will receive structured and fully supervised training to develop a wide array of administrative, reception, and professional skills:

* Welcome visitors and manage the front‑desk.
* Schedule and coordinate student appointments and enquiries.
* Maintain visitor logs and confidentiality procedures.
* Customer‑service and communication skills – in‑person, by phone, and by email.
* Office administration – document organisation, filing, photocopying, scanning, and basic record keeping.
* Use of standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, email management, digital filing).
* Time management, task prioritisation, and use of checklists.
* Health & safety, data protection, GDPR, and confidentiality training.

Support and mentoring will be provided throughout the placement to build confidence, develop transferable skills, and enhance employability.


Training Plan

Total 60 hours of training

* 40 hours on‑the‑job training:
o Front‑office greetings and email correspondence.
o Student management system use and query management.
o Health and safety training.
o GDPR training.
o Manual handling training.
o Internal communication.
* 20 hours additional training:
o Front‑office management via Alioson or Coursera platform.
o GDPR training.
o Health and safety training.
