Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Wind Energy Policy Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our policy and research team, you will play a vital role in shaping and advancing policies that support the growth and development of the wind energy sector.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Irish planning and environmental policy, particularly in relation to the energy and electricity sectors. You will also have experience working in an advocacy environment, with a clear understanding of Irish and European current affairs and political systems.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Developing and implementing policies to promote wind energy and other enabling technologies in Ireland and at European level
* Representing our organization in interactions with government agencies, policymakers, members, and other stakeholders
* Monitoring policy developments relating to consenting renewable energy and grid, and proactively identifying key opportunities, risks, and issues relating to the wind energy industry
* Liaising with senior stakeholders in relevant government departments and state bodies to advance our organization's goals
* Collaborating with other policy and research team members and our members through the coordination of committee meetings, working groups, and policy forums
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A legal, planning, environmental, or energy-related third-level qualification
* A minimum of 6 years' experience working in a policy or research role, preferably in an advocacy environment
* Knowledge of Irish planning and environmental policy, particularly in relation to the energy and electricity sectors
* Experience working in a membership-based organization and managing teams or large projects/programmes of work
* Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, succinct reports and presentations that communicate complex ideas effectively
