What is the opportunity ?This is an excellent opportunity for you to join General Investment Trust as Managing Director and will lead our pension trustee companies. Working with the Board of the Master Trusts the Managing Director will have responsibility for the legal, regulatory and operational leadership ensuring effective oversight of the management of the master trusts.In this role you willLead the design and implementation of business plans for the trustee companies, adapting to any new regulatory requirementsLiaising with the Pensions AuthorityCommunicating with partners in New Ireland to ensure effective service delivery to the Master Trusts with a focus on member's interestsEnsuring the Board is supported, well informed and empowered to make decisions. Ensuring the Board's decisions are effectively implemented. Ensuring the content of Board pack meets the Board's requirementsCommunicating with employers and advisors, providing updates on trustee oversight of the Master TrustsOverseeing the financial and operational management of the trustee companiesLeading all aspects of the governance framework, including risk management and internal auditRepresenting the company at industry forumsWhat will make you stand out?The ideal candidate will have experience as a company director, or experience working with Boards of Directors at a senior level.Understanding of the pension's business including all relevant regulations, with a focus on Master Trusts and in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities of trustees.Dedication to acting in the best interests of members and beneficiaries at all times.Uses sound logic and takes effective action by adopting a long-term commercial and strategic perspective.Proven experience leading high performing teamsExperience in building and leading diverse executive teams, engendering a high-reaching high-performance culture.Proven track record to work through appropriate governance structures partnering with Board, Group, Regulatory and external partners.Positive relationships with regulatory and industry professional bodies.Essential QualificationsThe Code of Practice for Trustees requires the Managing Director to be fit and accurate for the role. This means that we require the candidate to have either one of the trustee qualifications listed on the Pensions Authority's website, or have recent experience as a trustee or a director of a trustee company.More about the teamGeneral Investment Trust DAC is trustee to Navigator Master Trust, which currently holds c.€1.4 billion in assets and c.35k members, mostly in public sector AVC plans. Dawson Master Trust DAC is trustee to New Ireland Master Trust, which holds c.€2.5 billion in assets for more than 60k members, using the MP365 platform. Both companies are led by Boards made up of independent Non-Executive and a Group directors.This is a hybrid role and can be done anywhere in the Republic of Ireland with the primary office location as Dublin.
