Job Description: Bid Manager
Employment Type: Full-time
Location: Co. Mayo
Role Overview
The Bid Manager will play a critical role in securing high-value civil engineering projects by managing the end-to-end tender process. Working closely with senior management, the successful candidate will take full ownership of bids, from initial opportunity identification through to submission and post-award handover.
This role requires strong commercial awareness, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, compliant, and competitive bids.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the production, quality, compliance, and timely delivery of commercially sound and competitive tenders.
Take ownership of the full bid lifecycle, ensuring all submissions meet client and regulatory requirements.
Assemble and manage bid teams, coordinating inputs from technical, commercial, and operational stakeholders.
Manage client and supplier relationships throughout the tender process, ensuring a positive and professional experience.
Prepare, review, and manage the commercial aspects of bids, ensuring all services, risks, and costs are accurately captured.
Track and manage risks, issues, and dependencies throughout the bid process.
Contribute to written proposals, including content development, structure, and presentation.
Manage financial submissions and ensure bids complete the required commercial sign‑off processes.
Address and resolve complex technical, strategic, and commercial challenges associated with bids.
Ensure all bid documentation is fully compliant with tender requirements and procurement procedures.
Coordinate post-bid reviews with clients, including both successful and unsuccessful tenders.
Manage the handover of successful tenders to operational delivery teams.
Conduct bid process reviews to identify efficiencies, best practices, and areas for improvement.
Analyze bid trends, win/loss data, and performance metrics to support continuous improvement.
Carry out additional related duties as required in a dynamic and evolving role.

Skills and Experience Requirements

Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
Proven experience in a similar Bid Manager or senior bid coordination role.
Strong commercial acumen with a clear understanding of pricing, risk, and contractual requirements.
In-depth knowledge of procurement and tendering processes.
Experience managing multiple internal and external stakeholders simultaneously.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
A structured, proactive, and results‑driven approach.
