Hi-Line Energy Solutions is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented M&E Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for projects by analysing project specifications, researching market prices, and collaborating with our project management and sales teams. A background in construction, engineering, manufacturing is essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects by reviewing schematics, plans, and other documentation.
* Analyse labour, materials, and time requirements to determine project costs.
* Gather and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
* Visit job sites to gather first-hand information on project requirements and assess any potential risks.
* Work closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure a comprehensive understanding of project scope.
* Conduct risk assessments and create reports to present estimates and bids to management or clients.
* Maintain and update a cost database with current market prices and project data.
* Provide consultation on budget management, cost reduction strategies, and scheduling.
* Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors to secure the best possible pricing for materials and services.
* Review project expenditures during all phases to ensure costs remain in line with forecasts.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Construction Science, Engineering, Accounting, or a related discipline.
* 1 year of proven experience in an estimator role or a similar position.
* Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Timberline, HCSS HeavyBid) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills.
* Exceptional mathematical and analytical abilities.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills for presenting complex data clearly.
* Outstanding organisational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and strict deadlines.
* Ability to read and interpret schematics and construction documents.
* Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills.
* Strong attention to detail.
Preferred
* Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) certification.
* Experience in Mechanical and Electrical estimation.
* Familiarity with project management principles.
