Our Activity Coordinator plays a vital role in the well-being of our residents and patients. She or he is a life-link, a familiar and trusted person whose presence is appreciated on many levels.
Job Requirements
1. Organise and coordinate activities for active daily living that maintain interest and progression over time.
2. Meet new residents, learn about their interests and preferences, and encourage participation in activities.
3. Consult with residents about the activities programme and respond to their wishes where practical and appropriate.
4. Proactively plan events, e.g., national and festive celebrations.
5. Establish links with the local community and promote cross-generational activities.
6. Research new ideas and stay updated on developments in activities for older people.
7. Assist in producing the monthly activities bulletin and newsletter in collaboration with the MDT team, ensuring circulation to all residents.
8. Ensure the activities programme reflects a wide range of individual needs, abilities, and preferences, providing a diverse and inclusive schedule.
9. Work as part of our multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications
QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or equivalent, or Level 5 Applied Social Care, is essential.
* Previous experience as an activity assistant or coordinator is advantageous.
* Experience in a care environment or caring for older persons within a residential setting is desirable.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong understanding of the interests and needs of older people.
* Good knowledge of HIQA Standards.
* Problem-solving attitude with organizational skills.
* Teamwork approach and flexibility.
* Willingness to undertake further training.
