Purpose of the Role
To co‑coordinate and facilitate the education of nursing staff undertaking the Foundation Programme in Haematology–Oncology Nursing in collaboration with the Centre of Children’s Nurse Education (CCNE) and University College Dublin (UCD). The post holder will be pivotal in coordinating and managing ongoing education and support for nursing staff in the Haematology–Oncology environment.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with St Johns’, HODU management, CNF team, CCNE and UCD to develop, deliver and facilitate course content for the duration of the programme.
* Amend course content based on evaluation and implement changes accordingly.
* Promote the Foundation Programme internally and externally.
* Ensure learning and professional development requirements of staff nurses are met.
* Assist nurses to assume competent practitioner roles in the Haematology–Oncology setting.
* Support and maintain a preceptorship system for staff within the Haematology–Oncology division.
* Provide education/training to nursing staff that promotes best practice in nursing care.
* Assist haem/onc CNEFs in educating and helping staff reach their potential.
Essential Criteria
* RCN/RGN with 5 years paediatric experience
* RCN/RN Child branch with 5 years post‑graduate experience or RGN with 5 years acute paediatric experience
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in Haematology‑Oncology
* Successfully completed a preceptorship programme and Graduate Diploma in an appropriate specialty, or willingness to undertake within 2 years
* Ability to coordinate effectively
* Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively
* Ability to work as an autonomous practitioner
* Ability to persuade and influence others

Onboarding and Commencement
CHI has transitioned to a process of one commencement day per month for all new employees, internal transfers, and secondments. The onboarding team will confirm your start date once mandatory training is completed at least 7 days before commencement. If pre‑employment and mandatory training are not completed in time, the commencement date will be deferred to the next available date.
