Job Title: Operations Manager Industry: Flooring Distribution (Business to Business) Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and coordinate operational activities within our B2 B flooring distribution business.
This role is critical in ensuring the efficient movement of flooring products from suppliers to customers, maintaining high service levels, and supporting the continued growth of the business.
The Operations Manager will oversee warehouse, transport, and merchandising functions, ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and continuous process improvement.
Departments Overseen Warehouse Operations Transport & Distribution Merchandising Key Responsibilities Implement, monitor, and continuously improve operational processes across warehouse, transport, and merchandising functions.
Contribute to departmental budgets, cost control, and wider organisational planning.
Identify quality control issues relating to flooring products, storage, handling, and delivery, and implement corrective actions.
Develop and execute operational strategies to improve efficiency, service levels, and profitability.
Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, transport legislation, and relevant industry standards.
Recruit, train, and manage operational staff, fostering a high-performance team culture.
Fields of Operation Supply Chain Management Oversee stock control, storage, and distribution of flooring products.
Manage procurement planning to ensure adequate stock levels while minimising excess inventory.
Coordinate with suppliers and sales teams to meet customer demand.
Project Management Plan and manage operational projects such as warehouse layout improvements, system implementations, or process upgrades.
Assign tasks, measure productivity, and implement strategies to maximise return on investment (ROI).
Human Resources Design and implement operational staffing procedures.
Oversee recruitment, training, workforce planning, and performance management.
Logistics & Distribution Manage B2 B delivery operations to trade customers, retailers, and contractors.
Evaluate and select cost-effective transport solutions.
Ensure accurate, on-time delivery of flooring products while managing costs and service quality.
Experience & Requirements Proven experience as an Operations Manager or in a similar senior operational role.
Previous experience within flooring, building materials, or a related B2 B distribution environment is essential.
Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, transport logistics, and stock control.
Experience managing teams and implementing operational improvements.
