Job Title: Occupational Therapist-Psychiatry of Later Life
Location: Tallaght
Contract Type: One year agency contract- likely to be extended

Hours: Full-Time, 35 hours per week
Salary: HSE Aligned Pay Scales for an Occupational Therapist

Excel Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Staff Occupational Therapist to join a well established Psychiatry of Later Life, Team based in Tallaght.

This is an excellent opportunity for a clinician to join a community-based team known for clinical excellence and a supportive multidisciplinary environment. The Psychiatry of Later Life, team provides vital, specialised mental health services to older adults, focusing on complex mental health presentations, neurocognitive disorders, and age-related functional challenges.

Role Purpose:

The Staff Grade Occupational Therapist will provide client centred occupational assessments and evidence-based interventions as an integral member of the multidisciplinary Psychiatry of Later Life team.

You will focus on the functional impact of mental illness in older adults, addressing independent living skills, home safety, cognitive support, and enhancing engagement in meaningful occupations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct functional and cognitive assessments to identify the needs of older adults within the service.
2. Implement evidence-based OT interventions to promote independence, safety, and quality of life for service users.
3. Manage a defined caseload under the guidance of a Senior Occupational Therapist, ensuring high-quality, recovery-oriented care.
4. Work closely with Geriatric Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Nurses, and Social Workers to provide holistic, integrated care.
5. Participate in regular supervision and engage in continuous professional development (CPD) to enhance clinical skills in later-life mental health.
6. Maintain accurate, timely clinical records and reports in line with professional standards.

Essential Requirements

7. BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy.
8. CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist (active or in-process).
9. Previous experience or a strong interest in Mental Health and Psychiatry of Later Life.
10. Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and time-management skills.
11. A person-centred, collaborative, and recovery-oriented mindset.
