Operational Database Administrator Role

Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Operational Database Administrator to join our team. As an Operational Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in managing complex databases that provide healthcare applications and data.
* You will be responsible for installing and administering operational database environments based on InterSystems IRIS.
* Perform environment setup and configuration, proactive monitoring, and maintenance.
This role requires strong Linux administration skills, including experience with command line tools, scripting, and troubleshooting.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant field (Data Science or STEM subject) or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
1. Successfully complete all required job training, including Epic certification, within six months of employment and keep certifications up to date.
2. Create and manage operational database environments that serve production, reporting, disaster recovery, training, and non-production needs.
3. Apply InterSystems IRIS and Epic upgrades and updates to production and non-production environments.
4. Install and maintain administrative and monitoring tools necessary for high levels of availability and performance of healthcare IT systems.
5. Understand performance metrics, monitor system performance, and troubleshoot issues.
6. Configure and maintain environment copies according to the environment strategy.
7. Engage in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources.
8. Help manage Change Control processes for all Epic environments build migration and technical activities.
9. Review Sherlock and Galaxy notes and apply routine upgrades to all Epic environment client applications and back-end services.
10. Implement Epic system high availability strategies and mechanisms.
11. Ensure Epic application and infrastructure changes are communicated to necessary teams across the enterprise.
12. Work closely with database, environment/infrastructure, and internal/external enterprise security teams.
13. Provide on-call support for production performance/availability or other critical issues.
Requirements
* Degree Qualified in relevant field (Data Science or STEM subject) or equivalent experience.
* Strong Linux administration skills, including experience with command line tools, scripting, and troubleshooting.
* Ability to create, understand, and follow processes to ensure successful execution of critical maintenance.
* Experience working with Epic Systems (Preferred).
* Knowledge of a command shell (BASH), plus languages and utilities such as awk, sed, or Perl (Preferred).
