AtkinsRéalis one of the world's leading providers of engineering professional consulting and support services with offices across Ireland.
We are seeking a Resident Engineer for a high-profile road / cycling / active travel scheme in the east of Galway City, for an estimated 12-18 months, commencing Nov 2025.
The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in roads/transport infrastructure. The candidate should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, flexible, willing to take responsibility and comfortable in working with a site team.
The role will involve site-based supervision, contract administration, stakeholder and client liaison, reporting, monitoring and inspection of construction activities; in tandem with a full-time Senior Resident Engineer and Clerk of Works/Inspector.
Job summary and desirable skills / attributes:
* Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering.
* Relevant years of experience in the civil engineering industry, including experience in the supervision & administration of Public Works Contracts for Civil Engineering Works.
* Computer literate and with experience of relevant software (AutoCAD or similar) and Microsoft Office programmes.
* Experience in administering contracts using the Public Works form of contracts; including processing of Valuations, and assessment of Claims.
* Experience in supervising and inspecting the construction of roadworks including pavement, drainage, ducting, signage, lighting, etc.
* Experience in the design of road / active travel schemes (desirable but not mandatory).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
* Experience in record keeping and reporting on Contractor's progress.
* Ability to work as part of a team and also work independently and under own initiative to achieve project goals.
* Knowledge of current H&S regulations and best practices.
* Full driving licence and a valid SafePass.

Terms and Conditions:
* Competitive salary subject to experience.
* A vehicle will be provided for the duration of the works.
* 25 days annual leave, with the option to purchase an additional 5 days.
* Working week of 8 hrs per day, 5 days per week; with possibility of some weekend and night works (only if and when required).
