12-Month Research Assistant in Advanced Digital Skills
The successful candidate will be affiliated with the Cloud Competency Centre, a research centre dedicated to bridging high-performance computing, open data, and digital technologies. The Research Assistant will develop a suite of postgraduate materials addressing emergent needs in advanced digital skills, working with European partners to craft an educational framework that empowers professionals to implement effective digital solutions and advance digital literacy goals.
Contract: 12 months Full-Time Fixed Term (start 3 November 2025 or immediately thereafter).
Reporting and Relationships
Reporting to: Head of the Cloud Competency Centre.
Key Relationships: Head of CCC; NCI Project Staff and European partners; Vice President Academic Affairs and Research; Dean of the School of Computing; other staff in the School of Computing.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct research and contribute to the project’s objectives on advancing digital skills in the ICT sector.
* Design and develop innovative undergraduate and postgraduate materials focusing on advancing digital skills.
* Collaborate with project partners across Europe to ensure relevance and impact of educational, research, and dissemination materials.
* Engage in dissemination of research findings through high-quality academic publications, conference presentations, and other relevant forums.
* Contribute to project reporting and communication activities, ensuring milestones and deliverables meet EU guidelines.
* Engage proactively in writing research proposals for future funding.
* Participate in CCC activities including showcases, annual reporting, academic accreditations, and EU reviews.
Qualifications & Experience
* Undergraduate qualification in Computer Science with a digital technology focus, or a closely related field; some postgraduate studies are a plus.
* Demonstrated experience in advancing digital skills research.
* Proficient in developing educational content and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work independently and collaboratively.
* Proven ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to academic and non-academic audiences.
* Interpersonal skills and ability to develop productive working relationships with researchers and senior staff in an international environment.
* Ability to balance research tasks and deadlines within EU-funded projects.
* A 2-page Original Research Statement is required as part of the application, outlining research interests and experience in designing and developing innovative materials.
* If Large Language Models are used to develop content, disclosure of changes (which sections are concerned) is required.
Salary, Hours & Leave
* Salary: Academic I Salary band (€37,271 - €57,027).
* Hours: Full-time.
* Annual Leave: 34 days per annum.
* Probation: 6-month performance-based probation period.
