This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to provide Lead level guidance and performance in a world leading Bioprocess facility in Limerick, Ireland. They will be accountable for leading/performing/directing activities of a project team of 20+ automation engineers. They also must work closely with the Project Managers and stakeholders to provide installations that are successful not only technically, but on time and budget as well.ResponsibilitiesThe DCS Technical Lead is responsible for technical oversight and coordination of the automation scope and will:Provide day-to-day technical leadership to support commissioning and qualification of the automation software configuration.Lead and support technical execution activities, including troubleshooting, defect resolution, and implementation of agreed remediation actions.Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the automation system, reviewing configuration/code to ensure compliance with standards and supporting change control review/approval as required.Ensure all project changes are controlled, technically sound, and implemented in line with approved design and site procedures.Coordinate and support implementation, verification, and testing of changes and optimisations under the applicable change control procedure.Own technical delivery for the assigned area(s), including software development tasks and incident resolution through to closure.Review, priorities, and close change requests raised by the site team, ensuring required information and impact considerations are captured to support C&Q execution.Collaborate with process/system owners, design teams, and stakeholders to ensure alignment to requirements, standards, and safe/quality execution.Promote reuse of proven solutions and best practices from the system integration phase to improve quality and consistency.Attend C&Q progress and technical coordination meetings, providing status updates and highlighting risks, issues, and required decisions.Ensure all permits, LOTO, SPA, and required EH&S training are in place or completed prior to carrying out any automation activities.Ensure technical deliverables and changes are documented in accordance with site procedures and that automation documentation remains current and controlled.QualificationsExtensive Knowledge of biopharma process.Biotech experience (upstream/downstream/clean utilities)Experience in startup of large automation projects as overall technical lead or process area lead.BS in a related engineering field (e.g. Electrical, Instrument, Chemical) Minimum 10 years Industry experience includes biotech manufacturing knowledgeMinimum 5 years DeltaV configuration experience with both Batch and Continuous applicationsRequired SkillsIndustry best practices finder and champion.Understand, in detail, concepts of current advance control techniques and the control requirements of most commonly used process equipment.Ability to solve process control problems using these techniques.Work with customers and project teams to solve complex control problems requiring industry expertise.Work with customers to develop project methodologies that will affect their standards and develop functional requirements based on observation of the process or input from process engineers.Solve complex process control problems in the industry and start up complex systems at customer’s plants.Lead, plan and organize the work of project teams, and act as a mentor for individuals within the group.Design, implement and test controls for a complex process or area of a project and provide application and process expertise.Lead department efforts to improve processes.Preferred SkillsCandidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
