Job Title: Senior Software Engineer - Automation
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to design, develop, and maintain software solutions that drive the automation of laboratory workflows.
* This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to collaborate with scientists, engineers, and IT professionals to integrate robotic systems, laboratory instruments, and data management platforms.
* The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and experience working in a laboratory or scientific environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and implement software to control laboratory automation systems, including liquid handlers, robotic arms, and analytical instruments.
* Collaborate with vendors to ensure software updates meet our needs.
* Develop APIs and middleware to integrate instruments with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and data pipelines.
* Collaborate with scientists and lab staff to understand workflow requirements and translate them into scalable automation solutions.
* Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code in languages such as Python, C#, or Java.
* Troubleshoot and debug hardware-software integration issues in a laboratory setting.
* Implement scheduling and orchestration systems for automated workflows.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, where applicable.
* Participate in code reviews, testing, and validation of automation systems.
* Maintain version control and documentation for all software projects.
* Develop and train junior engineers.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
* 5+ years of experience in software development, preferably in a laboratory or scientific environment.
* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C#, or Java.
* Experience with laboratory automation platforms.
* Familiarity with LIMS, ELNs, or other scientific data management systems.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
