Overview
Social Care Worker role at Brothers of Charity Services Ireland.
Location: Curlew Adult Services (Boyle, Ballaghaderreen, Frenchpark Areas). Staff allocation may be within residential/respite/day settings, community services, or in an individual’s own home. The appointee will initially commence in one area of the Curlew services and this may change due to future service needs.
The Role
Social Care Workers fulfil a key worker supportive and advocative role for individuals supported by the service. The role focuses on the individual’s abilities, promoting independence and development of skills. Responsibilities include supporting individuals with the development of their person-centred plans and associated outcomes, helping individuals make informed choices, and encouraging participation in the community through inclusive and creative thinking. The successful candidate will provide leadership and supervision at a local level to ensure a person-centred service.

Qualifications
Candidates must hold the following qualifications:
* Registered with or eligible to register with CORU by November 2025.
* A full clean manual Driving Licence valid for manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads; Class D1 licence may be required to obtain (assistance provided).
* Fluency in verbal and written English.
Experience
* Experience working with individuals with an intellectual disability and individuals with challenging behaviour is desirable. Full training will be provided.
* Experience in goal setting and programme implementation through a person-centred approach is desirable.
* Experience working within a staff team and occasionally leading shifts.
Skills
* Leadership and networking: build positive links with local community groups for individuals who use the service.
* Excellent organisational and planning skills; support goal setting and achievement of outcomes.
* Effective written and verbal communication, with strong report writing and record keeping skills.
* Creativity, initiative, and self-motivation.
* Commitment to best practice and collaboration in an interdisciplinary, person-centred team.
* Good judgement, discretion and confidentiality.
* Excellent listening skills, patience and a sense of humour.
Working Hours
* 3 X Permanent Part-Time 45 hours per fortnight.
All posts are based on a 14-day duty roster. The successful candidates may be required to work to accommodate an integrated day service, with weekend work, some split duty hours, public holidays, evening/night duties and sleep-ins to meet service needs. The service model is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring flexibility to provide a quality service for each individual.
Remuneration and Benefits
Salary: Department of Health Social Care Worker scale as of 01/08/2025: €40,351. There are 11 increments up to €55,599 per annum (pro-rata for part-time). A long service increment of €56,650 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) is payable after 3 years at the maximum of the scale. Additional payments are made for weekends, public holidays and night duty when worked. Salary is based on a 39-hour week. Incremental credit may be granted subject to verification of previous public sector service. Annual leave is 22 days per annum (pro-rata for part-time) with service-related leave after 5 and 10 years of service.
Tenure: All posts are Permanent, Part-Time and Pensionable. A panel may be formed for future permanent, temporary or fixed-term Social Care Worker appointments within the Curlew Service location over the next 6–12 months.
