Department: Managed ServicesReports to: Service Desk ManagerGeneral Summary:The primary objective for a Unitec Senior IT Field Engineer is to provide our clients with expert advice based on the standard that we have set for client infrastructure, security and maintenance. The goal is to achieve optimal performance through a detailed analysis of gaps in the client environment that could pose potential risks and implementing fixes for these key areas. This requires a proactive approach to finding and resolving issues and vulnerabilities in the client’s environment.Key Responsibilities• Maintenance of critical Network InfrastructureoFirewalls, Switches, Wireless Controller and Access PointsoServers (on-Premise and Cloud)oPBXoNAS and Cloud StorageoBackup SolutionsoMDM SolutionsoEndpoint SecurityoUPSoHyper-V / VMware• Security ReviewoFirewalls, Switches, Wireless Controller and Access Points Firewall Policies and Security Profiles MFA for VPN ACL’s configured on Switches, Port Configuration and Vlan Segregation Core routing, EIGRP SD-WAN, IPsec VPN Wireless Configuration and Authentication (WPA and RADIUS)oServers (on-Premise and Cloud) Patching Administrative Users Remote Access AD Review, Accounts (Disabled users), Forest Function Levels, AD Services.oNAS and Cloud StorageoEndpoint Security AV Definitions and Updates Unwanted Applications – Torrenting, Games, additional PUAoModern Workplace (M365 Policies and Configuration)oEmail SecurityoDevice patching and compliance• Site AdministrationoAbility to document the site in great detail (using a pre-configured template): All critical information relating to client sites need to be documented, this ensures thatany engineer can review the document and have an immediate knowledge benchmarkfor the technology used at an individual siteoUpdating of site KB’s and processes: 3rd Party Applications and operational processes for sites that are non-standard such as ticket requests for users to have VPN Access for specific applications, Vendor Access, Resolving issues for a specific Application on-site.oUpdating of Passwords and Configurations in ITGlue All passwords should be up to date and any site configuration should be updatesas/when a change occurs, we should also remove legacy data or label it for ease ofreference.oRegularly update site photos (If/When changes are implemented)oProvide Site updates and report back to Service Desk Manager, Account Manager and Client Engineers are required to highlight concerns or issues on-site to the Account Managerand SDM to ensure this is raised with the client. Make recommendations based on in-depth review and analysis of the site and allrelated infrastructure, processes and potential issues.oLiaise with company contact on urgent changes or implementations Firewall upgrades Server maintenance Cable Cleanup, Network cabling Planned DowntimeKey Competencies:• Operational knowledge of servers, switches, firewalls and Cloud solutions• Operational knowledge of IT applications, processes, software, and equipment• Strong organizational and client service skills• Skill in planning and preparing written communications• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with clients• Service awareness of all key IT services for which support is being provided• Understanding of support tools, techniques, and how our technology stack is used to provide IT ServicesPreferred Certifications:• FortiGate NSE 4 / FCP (Minimum level – with 4 years working experience)• CISCO CCNA (Minimum level - with 2 years working experience)• Microsoft Azure (1 to 2 years active working experience)• Microsoft Intune (1 to 2 years active working experience)• Windows Server (Must be well versed in active directory and AD related services)• Virtualisation (2 to 3 years active working experience with Hyper V and VMWARE)• Backup solutions (Must be well versed in Datto or equivalent solution)• MCSE (Optional but will be advantageous)• Cyber security certifications advantageous• Knowledge of ConnectWise ticketing system will be an advantagePackage• Company Vehicle (Fuel card included)• Company Laptop• Company Mobile Phone• Development program and training• Benefit in Kind• Salary 40 – 50k per annum• Annual leave - 20 days per annum
