Systems Administrator - County CavanThe RoleWe are seeking a highly adaptable, solution-oriented Systems Administrator to join a dynamic and fast-paced organisation. This role requires a proactive individual who can design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure IT infrastructure aligned with business needs.The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders to understand requirements, deliver effective infrastructure solutions, and manage external service providers to ensure high availability, security, and performance across IT systems.Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with business units to define infrastructure requirements and design efficient, scalable solutions.Implement, maintain, and support core infrastructure systems, including both hardware and software components.Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure and system issues to ensure stability, reliability, and performance.Ensure infrastructure environments comply with relevant standards and frameworks (e.g. ISO27001, NIS2).Maintain clear and accurate documentation covering systems, configurations, and operational processes.Contribute to ongoing digital transformation initiatives, including cloud adoption and modernisation projects.Provide support, guidance, and training as required to enable effective use of IT systems across the organisation.Coordinate with and manage external IT service providers where necessary.Skills & ExperienceEducation & BackgroundDegree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience and relevant certifications.Technical SkillsVirtualisation: VMwareBackup & Recovery: VeeamNetworking: General networking principles, UniFiFirewalls: FortigateMicrosoft 365 ecosystem, including Defender and IntuneWindows Client and Server operating systemsActive Directory and Entra IDDatabases: SQL Server (administration and troubleshooting)Microsoft AzureFamiliarity with ISO27001 and NIS2 compliance requirementsAdvantageous SkillsSAP and data management environmentsLinux (Ubuntu and RHEL)Monitoring tools (e.g. Zabbix)Python scripting and automationSSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as CodeGeneral CompetenciesExperience working in regulated environments with a strong focus on IT security and compliance.Excellent problem-solving skills with a practical, solution-focused mindset.Highly adaptable and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.Strong communication skills, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.Skills:systems administrator IT Hardware Software SAP Python
