We are seeking a Newly Qualified Accountant & Auditor to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have recent experience in audit and accounting, strong technical competency, and an interest in working closely with SME clients across various sectors. Big Four experience is beneficial but not required.
You will work on both audit and non‑audit engagements, prepare financial statements, and support clients with statutory compliance and ad hoc advisory tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Audit
* Conduct audits of small and medium‑sized companies in accordance with relevant standards.
* Perform planning, fieldwork, testing, and completion stages under supervision or independently.
* Prepare audit files, working papers, and detailed documentation.
* Identify audit issues and propose practical solutions.
Accounting
* Prepare year‑end financial statements for non‑audit clients (FRS 102, Section 1A, or applicable frameworks).
* Prepare management accounts and assist with bookkeeping when required.
* Support clients with general accounting queries.
Tax Compliance
* Prepare and file statutory tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and companies.
* Assist in reviewing tax computations and ensuring compliance with filing deadlines.
* Liaise with tax authorities on behalf of clients when needed.
Other Responsibilities
* Undertake various ad hoc tasks typical of a medium-sized accountancy practice.
* Assist senior staff with client projects as required.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and professional service.
Requirements
* Newly qualified ACA/ACCA (or equivalent).
* Strong foundation in auditing and accounting principles.
* Good understanding of financial reporting standards (FRS 102, etc.).
* Competent in Microsoft Excel and standard accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks).
* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple assignments.
* Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
