Role Description
The successful applicant will be appointed to a role in High Voltage (HV) sub-station design. They will provide services in a timely and cost-effective manner, facilitating delivery of capital and maintenance projects and programmes.
In this position, they will offer technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of projects. They must understand station control systems, network operations, protection schemes, and safety implications. Furthermore, they should have detailed knowledge of station HV equipment and its operation.
Main Responsibilities
* Planning, scoping, and costing of projects in high-voltage substations
* Preliminary health and safety documentation preparation and design risk assessments
* Detailed electrical designs, including layouts, schematics, and wiring schedules
* Compliance with safety legislation and acting as PSDP contact on projects
* Liaising and coordinating with designers from other disciplines
* Liaising with external contractors and design teams while maintaining a commercial focus
* Providing technical support throughout the HV substation lifecycle
Essential Qualifications and Skills
* A minimum of three years' experience in electrical work or equivalent design work experience
* Proficiency and adaptability in CAD/CAE Systems such as MicroStation or AutoCAD
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
* A track record of implementing standards, policies, and quality systems to ensure optimal designs
* Demonstrated knowledge of ESB HV network assets – HV Stations
* Understanding and application of relevant approved Quality Management systems and standards
