Turmec are currently seeking a Stock Controller to join our expanding team. This role will take ownership of key stock-related tasks within the business. The role requires high attention to detail, structured execution, and proactive communication.
It involves close collaboration with the Purchasing, Finance, Stores, and Production teams and supports efficient, accurate and audit-ready operations.
Key Responsibilities
Stock Master Data Management
* Create and maintain accurate stock records in the system, including stock codes, descriptions, locations, financial mappings (GL/M codes)
* Maintain data integrity across all stock records and ensure consistency between system and physical locations.
Inventory Recording & Transfers
* Ensure the delivery of stock items are recorded on the stock system
* Manage and track internal stock transfers between locations or departments, ensuring system accuracy.
* Work closely with all teams to embed stock control processes.
* Provide training on stock handling and counting procedures
Stocktake Management & Execution
* Carry out a monthly stocktake of high-value items, ensuring discrepancies are promptly investigated and resolved.
* Coordinate and manage a full internal company stocktake every quarter, following the internal SOP
* Chair pre-stocktake meetings with relevant departments.
* Manage the cut-off process on the scheduled day, including the communication to relevant staff and suppliers
* Prepare and distribute count sheets by area.
* Request off-site and kanban counts from suppliers.
Post-Stocktake Tasks
* Reconcile physical counts against system data and manage the investigation and resolution of variances with relevant teams.
* Work with Finance and Purchasing to validate results and upload approved figures to the system.
* Carry out necessary system corrections and record process improvements for future cycles.
Candidate Requirements
* Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a stock control, inventory, or warehouse role ideally in a manufacturing or engineering setting
* Stock control or inventory management training (e.g. ERP/MRP systems) is a distinct advantage
* Familiarity with engineering/manufacturing parts, materials and BOMs (Bills of Materials) is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with Exchequer software desirable
* Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel (essential)
* Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
* Fluent English speaker with strong verbal and written communication skills
* Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset
* Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
* Team player with a collaborative approach and positive attitude
