Senior Radiographer – 12 Months SPC & Full-Time
The Dublin Dental University Hospital is the major dental teaching hospital in Ireland, undertaking the training of postgraduate and undergraduate dental students, student dental nurses, dental technicians and dental hygienists.
We are currently seeking to recruit a Senior Radiographer, 12 months Specified Purpose Contract & Full-Time position to join our Radiology department.
The position reports to and is accountable to the Head of Facilities or by any other authorised designated officer that the responsibility is delegated to by the CEO.
Outline of Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will function as a Senior Radiographer in a busy, student centred Dental Radiography department.
The role of the Senior Radiographer includes but is not limited to:
Cone Beam Computed Tomography imaging.
Imaging patients and assisting students with imaging patients.
Managing patient workloads for Radiographers and students.
Actively participate in the teaching of students in the clinical setting.
Performing student radiography competencies, QA tests and reporting on findings.
Auditing practices in the X-ray Department to maintain and improve standards and safety.
Play an active role in the continuing development of dental radiographic courses.
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the provision of an integrated Patient centred service.
Adhere to all departmental imaging protocols; be responsible for the correct identification of patient images.
Adhere to professional guidelines as determined by the Irish Institute of Radiographers and Radiation Therapists.
Contribute to the development and implementation of agreed policies, procedures and safe professional practice.
Ensure the correct completion of records and reports.
Monitor and adhere to relevant legislation, regulations and standards relevant to the use of ionising radiation.
Perform such other duties appropriate to the office and ad hoc projects as may be assigned to him/her.
Attending and participating in all meetings as required.
The extent and speed of change in the delivery of services is such that adaptability is essential to this level of appointment.
The person chosen will be required to maintain, enhance and develop their knowledge, skills and aptitudes necessary to respond to changing situations.

Qualifications, Experience & Person Specification
Essential Criteria
BSc for Diagnostic Radiographer or Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent.
Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Radiography Division of the Radiographers Registration Board at CORU.
Maintain annual registration with CORU once initial registration is secured (renewed on 1st October annually).
Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Radiography Division of the Radiographers Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment is issued.
Minimum of 3 years full time, or an aggregate of 3 years post qualification clinical experience.
Eligible candidates must be EEA, Swiss or British citizens or
Non-EEA with permission to reside and work in Ireland (to qualify candidates must be eligible by the closing date of the recruitment campaign).

Demonstrable adaptability to rapid changes taking place in the Hospital and external institutions, to include educational and health services in general.

Have an ability to demonstrate discretion in relation to clinical issues.
Have the ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
Have the ability to work on own initiative, prioritise and manage a number of issues simultaneously and demonstrate attention to detail.
Have the ability to demonstrate efficient work management processes.
Be able to demonstrate adaptability to rapid changes taking place in the Dublin Dental University Hospital and health and education services in general.
Have excellent administrative and organisational skills including competency in MS Office and IT systems.
Be free from any defect or disease which would render him/her unsuitable to hold office and be in a state of health as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Be of good character.
