We are seeking a Commercial Insurance Handler/Underwriter with a strong focus on motor fleet insurance. The ideal candidate uses analytical thinking and sound judgement to assess risks and make underwriting decisions, is highly self-motivated, and excels at building relationships. In this role, you will apply your underwriting expertise and logical decision-making skills to manage a portfolio of motor fleet policies while providing excellent service to broker partners in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
The Role
Key Responsibilities:
* Underwriting & Risk Analysis: Evaluate by assessing risk factors, analysing claims history and premium rates in line with company guidelines.
* Policy Processing: Accurately process and issue policies, schedules, and endorsements on internal systems and Insurer platforms. Maintain attention to detail to ensure all documentation is correct.
* Broker & Client Engagement: Respond promptly and professionally to enquiries and requests. Provide timely information and solutions helping to win and retain quality business.
* Negotiation: Negotiate terms and pricing with brokers effectively, balancing client needs with portfolio objectives. Strive for mutually beneficial outcomes that secure business while safeguarding underwriting integrity.
* Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with brokers, insurers, and team members. Represent the company in a professional manner and foster trust to encourage long-term partnerships.
* Team Collaboration & Projects: Work closely with your team and underwriting colleagues to resolve any scheme-related issues. Take ownership of project assignments or process improvements as directed by the Team Leader or Operations Manager, demonstrating initiative and adaptability.
